Below are some of the more frequently asked questions...

What size stove do I need?
Choosing the correct stove involves more than measuring the room. Insulation, windows, ceiling height, property age and how the room is used can all affect the heat required. We will discuss this during your free survey.

I live in a smokeless zone, can I still have a wood burning or multi-fuel stove installed?
Absolutely, many stoves are now DEFRA approved for smokeless zones.

Do I need to notify building control?
No, as registered installers we will notify building control via HETAS and register the stove on your behalf.

Is it essential that I have my chimney lined?
No. However, chimney lining is advisable or necessary in many installations. We will assess your chimney and explain the appropriate solution.

How often will my chimney need sweeping?
At least annually, see our links for a reliable and registered chimney sweep.

Can you help me identify the right stove for my needs?

How long does the installation take?
The majority of installations are completed in one day.

What about maintenance?
Stovetek provide full and on-going support following your installation. Whether it's an annual service, a spare part that needs sourcing or fitting or just some advice.

Can I have a wood burner in Oxford?
Yes, but because Oxford is within a Smoke Control Area, you will normally need a DEFRA-exempt stove if you intend to burn wood. The stove must also be used with the fuel approved for that appliance.
