Every property is different, so the best place to begin is with a free home survey.
We will assess your room, existing fireplace and chimney, discuss how you would like to use your stove and answer any initial questions. We can then advise you on the type and size of stove that is likely to work best within your home.
Our surveys are straightforward and pressure-free, giving you the information you need before deciding how to proceed.
Wood-Burning Stove Installation
Your stove will be installed by an experienced HETAS-approved installer, using the appropriate components and installation method for your property.
The work may include:
- Installation of your chosen stove
- Connection to an existing suitable chimney
- Chimney lining where required
- Installation of the necessary flue components
- Testing and commissioning
- Guidance on lighting and using your new stove
- HETAS registration and Building Control notification
The majority of straightforward installations can be completed within one day. More complex projects may take longer, but this will be discussed with you before work begins.
Chimney Lining Systems
Not every chimney automatically requires a liner, but in many properties a suitable chimney liner is advisable or necessary for safe and effective operation.
During your survey, we will consider the condition, size and suitability of your chimney and explain whether lining is recommended.
Where required, we can install an appropriate chimney lining system as part of your stove installation. You will receive clear advice based on your particular property rather than a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
Stove Servicing and Ongoing Support
Our support does not end when your stove has been installed.

Your chimney should normally be swept at least annually by an appropriately qualified chimney sweep. The frequency may need to be increased depending on how often the stove is used and the fuel being burned.

Multi-Fuel Stove Installation
A multi-fuel stove provides the flexibility to use different approved solid fuels, depending on the appliance and your location.
We can explain the practical differences between wood-burning and multi-fuel models and help you decide which option is best suited to your home. Your stove must always be used with the fuels approved by its manufacturer and in accordance with local Smoke Control Area rules.
Stoves in Oxford’s Smoke Control Area
The whole of Oxford is now within a Smoke Control Area. This does not automatically prevent you from having a wood-burning stove installed.
Wood may still be used in a DEFRA-exempt appliance, provided that the stove is operated using the approved fuel and instructions for that particular model. If a stove is not exempt, only authorised fuel may be used.
